Vaping Laws in New Zealand: Guide Index
Vaping products in New Zealand are regulated under the Smokefree Environments and Regulated Products Act 1990 and its 2020 vaping amendments. The current rules, in force since 17 June 2025, set the nicotine limits (20 mg/mL for freebase e-liquid and 28.5 mg/mL nicotine for nicotine salt), ban single-use disposable vapes, require every product to be notified to the Ministry of Health, restrict sales to people 18 and over, and limit how specialist vape retailers may describe their products. Vapourium is a notified specialist vape retailer and every product on this site complies with these rules.
The guides below cover each part of the law in plain language. They are updated when the rules change; each shows its last-updated date.
