New Zealand Vaping Laws 2025

Starting June 17, 2025, the following change will be implemented by the Ministry of health in new Zealand.

With this change, we’re currently reviewing our overall pricing. We’ll keep you informed about any updates we implement from June 17, before the new regulations coming into effect, via email.

#1 No More Single-use Disposables

Disposables vapes that can’t be recharged, or refilled by the user by either filling the device with e-liquids or replacing a changeable pod/cartridge/etc.

What it means for you:

Single-use disposables, such as the following (can't be refilled by replacement pods), will no longer be available:

• OYOPUFF Juvous Choice 26000
• Vapengin Vulcan
• Vapengin Nimmbox Mars 99
• Go2 8000 

#2 No More Advertising, Promotions & Displays

We, vaping companies, are no longer allowed to encourage the use, promote the sale or notify the availability of regulated products. In addition, internet retailers can no longer display vaping products, including pictures of the products, and in-store, products or its packaging must not be visible from outside.

What it means for you:


• No more notifications of new stock, sales or discounts
 (newsletters)
• Product pictures will no longer be available on our websites
• Our retail stores' windows will be tinted

#3 No More Discounts & Giveaways

We, vaping companies, are no longer allowed to offer discounts and giveaways, which were previously allowed vaping specialists.



a) Giving away free vaping products

b) Discounting vaping products

c) Offer rewards, cash rebates or gifts for purchasing vaping products

d) Offer lotteries or games to people who buy vaping products



What it means for you:


• No more “BOGO” Mondays


• No more in-store loyalty cards (stamp cards)

• No more “Deal of the Day” offers online


• No more free shipping deals based on cart value

and any other discounts.

What we'll do for you:


In consideration of the above, we'll give you more affordable (reduced) prices from June 17. Stay tuned for the new prices!

#4 Don't Tamper with the Child Safety Mechanism

Users are not allowed to override or permanently deactivate the child safety mechanism—2 simultaneous or 5 sequential operations for activation and automatic shut down within 10 minutes.

New Zealand Vaping Laws 2024

Starting December 21, 2023, a new vaping law will be implemented by the Ministry of Health in New Zealand.

All of the vaping products will be affected by this law, by March 21, 2024, which includes:

  1. Limitation on nicotine strength
  2. Restriction on e-liquid flavour names
  3. Requirement on child safety mechanism & removable batteries (pushed back to October 1st 2024)

2023: Disposables

As of December 21, 2023, all disposables must have:

  • Nicotine limit of 20mg
  • Flavour names limited to two words, accurately described by generic flavour names provided by Ministry of Health
  • Removable battery
  • Child safety mechanism (2 simultaneous or 5 sequential actions before turning off, and automatically turn off after 10 minutes)

2024: E-Liquids

As of March 21, 2024, all e-liquids must have:

  • Nicotine limit of 28.5mg
  • Flavour names limited to two words, accurately described by generic flavour names provided by Ministry of Health (All of our E-Liquids have been renamed, with a reference to the old names in the flavour descriptions for easy accessibility)

2024: Vape Devices

As of October 1, 2024, all vaping devices must have:

  • Removable battery
  • Child safety mechanism (2 simultaneous or 5 sequential actions before turning off, and automatically turn off after 10 minutes of inactivity)
