New Zealand Vaping Laws 2024

Starting December 21, 2023, a new vaping law will be implemented by the Ministry of Health in New Zealand.

All of the vaping products will be affected by this law, by March 21, 2024, which includes:

  1. Limitation on nicotine strength
  2. Restriction on e-liquid flavour names
  3. Requirement on child safety mechanism & removable batteries

2023: Disposables

As of December 21, 2023, all disposables must have:

  • Nicotine limit of 20mg
  • Flavour names limited to two words, accurately described by generic flavour names provided by Ministry of Health
  • Removable battery
  • Child safety mechanism (2 simultaneous or 5 sequential actions before turning off, and automatically turn off after 10 minutes)

2024: E-Liquids

As of March 21, 2024, all e-liquids must have:

  • Nicotine limit of 28.5mg
  • Flavour names limited to two words, accurately described by generic flavour names provided by Ministry of Health

2024: Vape Devices

As of October 1, 2024* March 21, 2024, all vaping devices must have:

  • Removable battery
  • Child safety mechanism (2 simultaneous or 5 sequential actions before turning off, and automatically turn off after 10 minutes)

*This ban has now been postponed as of March 20, 2024.

What does this mean for you?

As regulation deadlines approach:

  1. We will be introducing new Vaping Devices which meet the updated regulations, so you can try them out ahead of time
  2. All of our E-Liquids will be given brand new names, with a reference to the old names in the flavour descriptions, for easy accessibility
