You may or may not have heard, but we have released a new range of e-liquids! As with anything new, questions are coming up like... Why is it so runny? Why do I need more PG? What's the difference between this and the "normal" range? I can answer those questions for you. All eliquid is made up out of 3 components:
- Vegetable Glycerine (VG)
- Propylene Glycol (PG)
- Food Grade Flavourings
And people have the option of having nicotine in their e-liquid.
What is VG?
VG is considerably thicker than PG, therefore it has a slower absorption rate for wicks and atomisers. Because of this thick consistency, it can clog up your coils faster, requiring more cleaning. On the upside, this thick consistency means high VG eliquids produce significantly more vapour!
So why do we use it in our eliquid?
VG itself is sweeter than PG, and while PG carries the flavour better, more and more people are using higher VG eliquid due to allergies with PG. Vg tends to be a lot less allergenic.
VG is a lot smoother on the throat, some people refer to this as a throat hit and everyone has different needs when it comes to the throat hit they are looking for.
What is PG?
As for PG, due to the fact that higher PG eliquid is thinner than high VG eliquid, it is easily absorbed into wicks and the organic cotton you find withing your coil. Although higher PG can dry out your throat and mouth when used consistently;y, Pg produces a stronger throat hit and isn't as smooth as the higher VG eliquids.
The biggest downside to high PG eliquids is that PG has been known to cause allergic reactions in some vapers.
Theses reactions can vary from mild irritations, like an itchy throat to serious irritations on various parts of your body.
The vaping community is fairly evenly divided between vapers who enjoy the stronger throat hit that comes with higher PG eliquids, while others enjoy the sweet thick vapour they get from using higher VG eliquid.
The Vapourium's main eliquid range is Max VG, this means that besides the food grade flavourings, we do not add any PG to our eliquids.
Now, this can become an issue if you are using a small vape or e-cig. With the thick consistency of VG, it can be hard for the high VG eliquids to absorb into the cotton or wicking material of your smaller vapouriser.
