As of March 1, 2024, the Australian Government has implemented a full ban on the personal importation of all vaping products, including e-liquids (nicotine and non-nicotine), vape devices, and accessories.
What's banned?
It is now illegal to import the following without a valid import permit:
- Nicotine or non-nicotine e-liquids
- Disposable or refillable vape devices
- Replacement pods or coils
- E-cigarette accessories
What this means:
Any parcel containing the above items will be seized and destroyed by Australian Border Force unless you hold a special exemption or import permit.

Former Requirements (Oct 1, 2021 – Feb 29, 2024)
Prior to the 2024 ban, nicotine vape products were considered prescription-only medicines in Australia.
Between October 2021 and February 2024, customers could legally import:
- Nicotine e-liquids or pods
- Unflavoured nicotine base
Only if a valid prescription from an Australian-registered doctor was provided.
0mg/mL products were exempt during this period but are now included under the full import ban.
